1. <em>Mark 10:45 says "For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.”</em>

This passage from the Gospel of Mark tells the purpose of Jesus in coming to the world not as a king but rather to help and serve the ones in need. And his sacrifice of his life at the cross will serve as a ransom for the life of the sinners, saving them from eternal suffering.

2. <em>Luke 2: 40 states "And the child grew and became strong; he was filled with wisdom, and the grace of God was on him."</em>

This passage tells the childhood life of Jesus born into the world and living the life of a carpenter's son. Not only physically but also mentally and spiritually, he grew up, filled with wisdom and the grace of God.

3. <em>John 17: 1 states "After Jesus said this, he looked toward heaven and prayed:   “Father, the hour has come. Glorify your Son, that your Son may glorify you". </em>

This is a prayer of Jesus to God for the glorification of His name which will lead to him glorifying the Father. This section of the scripture contains the many prayers of Jesus before his crucifixion. The gospels especially of John consists his many parables, advices and even warnings about the future after he is gone.  

4. <em>Matthew 13: 45 and 46 says “Again, the kingdom of heaven is like a merchant looking for fine pearls. When he found one of great value, he went away and sold everything he had and bought it." </em>

This parable about the pearls, hidden treasures represents heaven and whoever finds it, is rich in his life. And by the treasure of heaven, Jesus means true salvation and belief in Jesus Christ and God the Father.

Gold.. That's pretty self explanatory. Finding gold was probably #1 on their to-do list.

Glory would result in their expand in empires and gain power over the land.
