A merchant mixed 10 lb of a cinnamon tea with 2 lb of spice tea. The 12-pound mixture cost $19. A second mixture included 16 lb
zubka84 [21]

Hey there!!

Take the cinnamon tea as ' x ' and spice tea as ' y '

10 x + 2y = 19  -------------- ( 1 )

16x + 10y = 44 --------------- ( 2 )

Multiply the first equation by 5

50x + 10y = 95

16x + 10y = 44

Subtract the second equation from the first

34x = 51

x = 51 / 34

x = $1.5

Substitute this in any other equation

15 + 2y = 19

2y = 4

y = 2

Cinnamon = $1.5

Spice tea = $2

Hope helps!

Please can someone show me how to work this out step by step without a calculator
Artyom0805 [142]
2\sqrt8\times8\sqrt2=(2\times8)\sqrt{8\times2}=16\sqrt{16}=16\times4=64

Alternatively, you can write radicals as rational exponents, so that you get

2\sqrt8\times8\sqrt2=2\tiems8^{1/2}\times8\times2^{1/2}=2^{3/2}8^{3/2}

Then recalling that 2^3=8, you have

2^{3/2}8^{3/2}=2^{3/2}(2^3)^{3/2}=2^{3/2}2^{9/2}=2^{12/2}=2^6=64
