Each parent cell has the full 46 chromosomes, but during the process of meiosis, the cells are split to produce daughter cells with just the base 23. If the cells did not split and reduce the number of chromosomes, the new individual would either not survive due to having 92 chromosomes or be severely disabled. The gametes produced by a female are larger than those produced by males. This is referred to as heterogamy.

Question: Examine the image. Explain how the spider’s genes and environment have influenced its characteristics.
vitfil [10]

The spider's genes determine that it has the white and orange coloration on its surface, which allows this spider to camouflage itself in flowers that have those colors.

We can arrive at this answer because:

 • The colors that a living being presents are determined by the DNA composition of that living being.
 • Thus, the colors of the spider shown in the image were determined by the genes that make up the spider's DNA.
 • This coloration allows this spider to have a great facility to camouflage itself in flowers that have the same color as its body.
 • This allows this spider to escape the attack of predators and manages to capture prey.

On different colored flowers, however, this camouflage would not work and this spider would be too visible to survive.

stiks02 [169]
When the lymphatic vessels are damaged they will not be able to remove all the excess interstitial fluid from tissues. So edema is seen in the arm of that person because there is excess fluid in the interstitium.

Ways to reduce edema would be movement and elevation of that area(your arm) compressing and messaging it. These all help with the fluid entering the lymphatic vessels and leaving the interstitium. Another important factor is reducing ur salt intake so the edema doesn’t progress.
