First of all, it is important to state that a verbal is a verb form which acts as a noun or an adjective. There are three types of verbals:  Participles (past participles and present participles), Gerunds  and Infinitives.

  • <em>Could you help me find my </em><em><u>running</u></em><em> shoes?</em>
  • "running" is a participle functioning as an adjective since it is modifying the noun "shoes".
  • <em>We were hoping </em><em>to begin</em><em> a game of chess.</em>
  • "to begin" is an infinitive functioning as a noun (to identify its function, you may ask the question: <em>What were you hoping?, </em>and the answer is <em>"</em><u><em>to begin</em></u><em> a game of chess")</em>
  • <em>I would rather be </em><em>sleeping</em><em>!</em>
  • <em>"sleeping"</em><em> is </em><em>a gerund functioning as a noun</em><em>. </em>Although gerunds look like present participles (because they end with -ing), a gerund is a noun not an adjective.

Llene los espacios en blanco con la forma correca del futuro (going to /Will ) 1. Next summer I ____buy a new house. 2. I am qui
timurjin [86]

Answer:

1. Next summer I <u>am going to </u>buy a new house.

2. I am quite tired; I <u>will  </u>go to bed now.

3. I believe Laura <u>will </u>like her brand new car.

4. Look at those guys! They  <u>are going to</u> rob the bank.

5. I promise, I <u>won't</u> do it again.

6. I think she <u>will </u>crash my dad's car.

7. I talked to John yesterday; we<u> are going to</u> visit you tomorrow.

8. I am sorry dad; I <u>won't </u>drink and drive again.

9. Watch out! That man <u>is going to</u> punch you.

10. It is really hot in here; I<u> will </u>open the window.

Explanation:

We use the future simple with -will-, to talk about predictions, where we do not know if an event or action is going to happen since there is no evidence to confirm it. Another use of will is to make promises, like in sentence number 5 ( I promise, I won't do it again.) and lastly to talk about decisions made at the moment like in sentence number 2 or 10 where the person decided at that moment what to do.

We use going to talk about arrange plans for the future, like in sentence number 1 or 7 where there is a plan to buy a house in the future or to visit someone on an exact date. The other use of going to is to talk about an action or event that is going to happen in the future and that there is evidence to confirm it. Like in sentence number 4, where the people saw the thieves, or in number 9, where the other person was moving the arm to punch him, this is evidence that an event is going to happen.

aa letter a letter to the editor of a local newspaper which explains why there should be more leisure facilities provided for an
Marysya12 [62]

Answer: Leisure facilities problem

Explanation: First of all, a leisure centre is referring to a building or site which is owned by city and that is a place where people are going to relax, work out or because of health issues,

  • You should set you letter name, for example, <em>Leisure facilities issue</em>.

Letter:

Dear sir,

We think that our city needs more leisure facilities because there is a lot of people that need it because of the health issues and also we are needing someplace for people that are trying to relax in cold seasons.

This could be useful for many people that are living here and it would also bring people from places near or place which can be perfect for tourism.

That could be one complex in which people can relax with swimming pools, sauna. They can go to a gym or have fitness. There can also be a teaching pool which is good for children.

We are suggesting that you should think about this option as something that could help all of us.

Sincerely, your citizens.
