Answer: Answer from PLATO

Explanation:

The author states that the Soviet Union’s launch of Sputnik caused the United States to begin investing in science, technology, and innovation. Sputnik’s successful launch caused this reaction in the United States because the Cold War led Americans to fear the possibility of the Soviet Union leading the world in science and technology. Rather than give in to fear or hide from challenge, the United States stepped up and made a commitment to science, math, and innovation.

In 1854, the United States acquired land from Mexico through the Gadsden Purchase. This land become into two future US states Arizona and New Mexico.

Explanation:

The Mexican-American battle ended in 1848 with the Guadalupe Hidalgo Treaty. The main reason for this was the U.S. government wanted to expand its territory.

But the tension among the U.S. government and the Mexican government continued for the next six years. Thus the Gadsden Purchase finalized the tensions and an agreement was made between two governments in 1854.

The U.S. agreed to settle Mexico $10 million per 29,670 square mile part of Mexico. That became part of New Mexico and Arizona. Also, Gadsden’s Purchase granted the land requirement for the southern transcontinental railroad construction.

Your answer will be: Equal owners of property and goods.

The supporters wanted to make sure they'd get something out of it. Most of the other answer choices don't really have an overall gain for the people, as they wanted things for themselves.
