The Declaration of Independence is only a statement that proclaims that the 13 colonies were independent states and no longer under British rule. It declares that the United States of America is a free and independent nation. The Constitution is the basis of the U.S. government. The Constitution is termed as the supreme law of the country.

There are several common mindsets that can hinder teachers in creating more personalized pathways for individual learners, or for specialized groups of learners. Many of these mindsets result in teachers and students wasting valuable instructional time.

Social contract theory, nearly as old as philosophy itself, is the view that persons' moral and/or political obligations are dependent upon a contract or agreement among them to form the society in which they live.

At the beginning of the Declaration of Independence of the United States, it says that all people are born with natural rights and the government is created with the purpose to protect those rights and when the government fails to do so, people have the right to rebel. The idea of the social contract is exactly that, the people “sign” a contract that creates a government and the government agrees to the contract by protecting the people’s rights. And if this government fails to protect those rights the people have the right to revoke this contract and sign another one.
