A retinue is a group of people who follows or come long with an important person. It is more frequently associated with an important person, maybe a government dignitary or a person of high standing. His retinue will include his advisers, his personal assistants and the like. The people following someone higher or more important than that person constitute the "retinue". In "Gulliver's Travels", the word retinue is used mostly with when the king of the land appears.
Thus, a person who arrives with a retinue is arriving with <em><u>other people.</u></em>
