How do the maps differ?
The size of the map effects the size of the countries. One map is sphere like and the other is a square. The sphere map slightly distorts the images of the countries make some look bigger or wider than they actually are. This is just one difference. Another small difference is that the second map or map B shows many more degrees of longitude and latitude. Therefore, you can better determine the location of a certain spot. 
Which map is better for comparing? 
Definitely map B because as mentioned earlier the shapes of the map effect the size of the countries and Map A being sphere like distorts the images. And some go off the sphere or we cant see them clearly like North America for example. In this case Map B is better for comparing.
