Secession is when someone or some state formally withdraws from an organization or group this occured when the southern states withdrew from the Union of the United States of America.

The first start to seceded was Sout Carolina

Whne SC seceded it created a problem for the US. Federally owned ofrts located in SC became an issue. Fort Sumpter was located in the state and considered to be property of the fedral government. SC refused to allow access to the fort by the US, preventing the delivery of resources. This rsulted in thei first battle of the civil war. Other states like South Carolina Mississippi, Alabama, Georgia were soon to folow the path of North Carolina which ultimely resulted in the Civil war.
