"Martin! Didn't I tell yeah to clean them dishes!? Why in the he'll did you leave my coffee cup!?" yells mother. I'm Martin, 17 years old, and currently getting yelled at for forgetting to wash one dish out of many. I'm a college student, just started last month. I wash the stupid cup and march upstairs to my room and blast some Joji, drowning out everything and everyone, even my own breathing. I have this stupid essay I need to rewrite, due to "lack of ordered events". Lack of order of events my as. I wrote it based on real-life events, and I get a 65 for "lack of ordered events"? B.S. I am then interrupted from my own thoughts when auntie Claud walks in. "Causing trouble AGAIN Martin? Aren't you a bit too old for this?" She says as she holds a beer bottle in her left hand.

"Shouldn't you be saying that to your sorry-excuse-for-a-sister?" I snap. She shrugs and walks away. I can hear her tumbling over her own feet down the hall. I sigh. "Why is the world so weird." I say out loud, as a statement rather than an question. I grab my Stranger Things Netflix and Chill Limited Edition pen and write this stupid essay.

I was only 12 when this happened, It a normal day at the good ol local Walmart when I decided to go home early with my mom. It was especially hot, and I have eczema, so when I sweat I feel as though I have actual fir ants on my arms. Not very pleasant. So I started to sweat and we headed for our car when a lady in her whote car drove past us by the crosswalk super fast.

My mom, yelling every curse word she knows at the lady, I just stood there is shock. The lady almost ran over my foot. My mom grabbed my hand and we walked towards our car. "Are you okay? Are you hurt?" My mom said with a worried look on her face. "Yeah." I replied, still in shock because I was so close to death that day. The were walking towards the car when I saw the lady in the car park right next to our car. My mom saw her and immediately, they started arguing. The lady got out of her car and called her horrible things. I just kind of stood there in the parking lot, sweating and burning.

The lady stopped cursing all of a sudden, right in the middle of their talk, and got in her car. My mom stood at her door threatening to call the cops, but before she could, she moved because she saw her turn on her car, in attempt to drvie away. "Move!" She yelled to me, but before I could the lady hit me with her car. Now, she didn't exactly run me over, but I remeber seeing the lady in the car glaring at me through her view mirror. That being said, she still backed out and hit me with her car. I bounced back and almost fell. I moved and she scurried away.

Based on the context and the definition, the word 'derivative' makes reference to something that is not the result of an original idea, but something that has been based on something else.

In this excerpt from "Poetry" by Marianne Moore, 'derivative' is used as an adjective in order to describe "things". 'Derivative' is used to refer to something that does not offer new ideas because it has been developed from something else. It has a negative connotation since it is used to criticize something. Moreover, in this excerpt, it is highly connected to the idea of unintelligibility.
