Texas provided a problem for all who took part of the Manifest Destiny. Mexico owned Texas at the time of Manifest Destiny so it would not allow people lay claim to Mexican land while almost all other land was fair game so if you think about it on a map it would look like a gaint turn in what people could settle on.
