1. let the score on 1st test be = x

Given average is = 92

2nd tests scores are = 97 (assume this as y)

3rd test score = 89 (assume this as z)

Average = \frac{x+y+z}{3}

92=\frac{x+97+89}{3}

276=186+x

x=90

Hence, 1st day score was 90.

2. Let the original recipe made x cookies

As given she doubled her recipe so 2x cookies

Her brothers ate 8 cookies, this gives 2x-8 cookies left

She gave 2 dozen or 24 cookies to the neighbor and left with 12 cookies, it becomes 2x-8-24=12

This gives 2x=44

or x=22

Hence 1 recipe makes 22 cookies.

3. As given in the table,

Time used in total by boys = 255 minutes

Time used by girls in total = 213 minutes

Time used for school work by boys = 33 minutes

Time used by boys other than schoolwork = 255-33 = 222 minutes

Time used for school work by girls = 72 minutes

Time used by girls other than schoolwork = 213-72 = 141 minutes

How many more minutes per week do boys spend using the internet for purposes other than schoolwork then girls = 222-141 = 81 minutes

Hence, boys use 81 more minutes than girls for work other than schoolwork.

4. Total amount by two films = $775 million

Let x be the receipts of the second highest box office film.

Let x + 97 be the receipts of the highest one.

Equation becomes x+x+97=775

2x+97=775

2x=678

x=339

Hence highest receipt movie brought in 339+97=436

The film with highest receipts bought in $436 million.

5. Vice President elected in the year = 1944

Died in the year = 1972

Total time in between  = 1972-1944=28 years

Age at the time of death = 88

So, he was  elected 28 years back and that time his age was = 88-28=60

He was elected at the age of 60 years.

It will cost Amber an estimated $3,723 a year in tuition to attend her preferred college. She has been putting $350 a month in a
kenny6666 [7]

Answer:

Yes; she will have $4008 for other expenses.

Step-by-step explanation:

First you find out how much she saved by multiplying 350 by 36 as she saved for 3 years which is 36 months.

350 \times 36 = 12600

After that you need to work out the amount she needs in total for her tuition by multiplying 4 by 3723 which is the amount needed per year.

3723 \times 4 = 14892

If her parents add to her account half the amount she saved that means that they give her an additional 6300 as that's half of 12600.

This means she has 18900 and if you take away 14892 you will be left with 4008 for expenses.
