During the Jackson Era, what was the status of the national debt?

History
1 answer:
meriva3 years ago

Answer:

D. Jackson implemented such high taxes on businesses and farmers, the national debt was able to be paid off.

Explanation:

During his presidency, Andrew Jackson had as a goal to pay off the national debt. He believed that debt was a threat of liberty and because of that, he enforced the shrinking of the debt by being frugal with federal funds. Jackson believed that the federal government had the power to levy and enforce tariffs and believed that the revenues that they generated would raise money to pay off the national debt. This resulted in the Nullification Crisis later.

Which policy or initiative contributed most to the nuclear arms race between the United States and the Soviet Union
nika2105 [10]

The policy contributed most to the nuclear arms race was Mutual Assured Destruction

This means that both sides knew that any attack upon the other would be devastating to themselves, therefore restraining them from attacking the other. Each side possesses enough nuclear weapons to obliterate the other side that causes them to restrain from attacking afraid of the annihilation.

What three options did Kennedy's staff consider as a response to Soviet missiles headed to Cuba? Sink any Soviet transports. Tak
Ludmilka [50]

The correct answers are as followed:

1) Take out all the missile sites - This would allow the immediate threat of the medium range ballistic missiles in Cuba to be disabled.

2) Conduct a military invasion- The goal of this strategy was to take over the sites where Soviet weapons already existed in order to prevent them from becoming fully functional.

3) Run a blockade or quarantine - This blockade/quarantine would stop future Soviet missiles from entering Cuba. However, it was a temporary solution and would do nothing to the missiles already in Cuba.

Ultimately, President Kennedy goes with a quarantine of Cuba. He uses the word quarantine instead of blockade because the term blockade insinuates an act of war. Both the US and Soviet Union at this time were trying to prevent an all out war.
