500 dots: this is because 1 minute is 5 dots. So, 5×100=500!

The pattern is that for every minute four dots are added diagnally. To find how many doths there are at 100 minutes we will multiply 4 x 100 and then add one for the dot e started at. 4 x 100 = 400 + 1 = 401

At 100 minutes there will be 401 dots.

<u> x = 3.5y </u><u>equation shows the number of teaspoons of sugar, y, needed to make </u><u>x tarts.</u>

What is the linear equation in two variable?

Any equation which can be put in the form ax + by + c = 0, where a, b and c are real numbers, and a and b are not both zero, is called linear equation in two variable.

<u>According to the given question</u>

A recipe require 3.5 teaspoons of sugar to make a tart.

y represents the number of teaspoons of sugar.

x represents the number of tarts.

Now, for x tart 3.5y teaspoons of sugar required.

⇒  x = 3.5y

Hence, the linear equation in two variable that shows the number of teaspoons of sugar y, needed to make x number or tarts is x = 3.5y.

if f(x) and g(x) are a quadratic function but (f + g)(x) produce the graph below, which statement must be true
ArbitrLikvidat [17]
The leading coefficients are opposites.

For instance
f(x) = 2x^2 + 5x + 6
g(x) = -2x^2 + 8x - 3
here the leading coefficients 2 and -2 are opposites

Adding function f(x) and g(x) gets us
f(x) + g(x) = (2x^2+5x+6) + (-2x^2+8x-3)
f(x) + g(x) = (2x^2-2x^2) + (5x+8x) + (6-3)
f(x) + g(x) = 0x^2 + 13x + 3
f(x) + g(x) = 13x + 3

The two quadratics add up to a linear equation

If x and y vary inversely, and x = 8 when y = 1/4, what is y when x = -4?
Alinara [238K]

y \propto \dfrac 1x\\\\\implies y = \dfrac kx \\\\\implies \dfrac 14 = \dfrac k{8}\\\\\implies k=2\\\\\text{When}~ x =-4\\\\y = \dfrac{k}{x} = \dfrac{2}{-4}= -\dfrac 12
