He was key to the introduction of Vedanta and Yoga (Indian Philosophies) to the Western world. He was also involved in raising Hinduism's status as a major world religion. Finally, he was credited with raising the interfaith awareness. He is seen as a hero and a unifying force in a diverse society because of his beliefs that all religions are equal.
