According to the Bureau of Justice Statistics, the amount of overturned sentences vs the total amount of sentences for capital punishment represented around 17% in 1973. This percentage gradually grew as it came closer to the end of the century, reaching around 45% in the year 2000. However, from there on, the amount of overturned punishments has surpassed the admitted punishments, with the latter representing around 37% of the total punishments. It is also important to mention that there has been a gradual decrease in the number of capital punishment cases during the period from 1973 to 2011.

Answer:

This is an example of the strength of weak ties.

Explanation:

In sociology, we can think of strong and weak ties. Our strong ties are the people whom we know well and meet often. The weak ties are our acquaintances and people we rarely meet or communicate with. The strength of weak ties lies in their power to function as a bridge between social groups. Weak ties, such as the one described in the question, may have important information and work as a link between people and groups. Therefore, maintaining weak ties proves to be of great help.

Can someone please explain why slavery in Rome was not abolished?
Marianna [84]
Slavery helped Rome grow as a nation. And because they did not have advanced technology like we have today, abolishing slavery would cause Rome to loose a lot of the driving force behind their nation. There would be no one to tend to the crops and do other hard manual labor, and even if there were willing workers, they would have to be paid. Negatively impacting the roman elite.
