Friends of yours have just had their first child, a little boy. Knowing that you are interested in child development, they have asked if you can tell them how soon their son will begin to speak and when he will be able to talk to them in full sentences. What will you tell them

• I congratulate them on their newborn baby.
• The development of the child occurs stage by stage process.
• Initially from 1 to 3 months baby will start to cry and coo.
• From 4 to 6 months of his age, the baby will cry, gurgle, grunt,  squeal, giggle and make distinct crying sounds.
• From 6 to 9 months, the baby will rant in syllables and start emulating tones and speech tones.
• By the end of 12 months, the baby's first word will arrive.
• By 18 months to 2 years, the child applies around 50 words and will start fixing two words collectively into short sentences.
• From 2-3 years, sentences increase to 4 and 5 words. The child can identify and know almost all familiar things and images.
• From 3-5 conversation becomes longer, abstract and complex.
