Find the unit rate first, and then multiply it by 8:

2 3/5 boxes
---------------- = 13/5 divided by 7/2.
3 1/2 roofs

You can obtain the correct result by inverting the divisor, 7/2, and then multiplying:

13/5 times 2/7.   This comes out to 26/35.  That represents 26/35 box of nails per roof.

To do 8 roofs (not roves), you'd need (26/35)(8/1) boxes:  5.94 boxes.  Why not buy 6 boxes to be sure you'll have enough?

A space shuttle travels at 2.6 x 10,000 feet per second. An hour is 3.6 x 1,000 seconds. This expression can be used to find the
guapka [62]

Answer:

7.22 feet

Step-by-step explanation:

From the question,

s = d/t................. Equation 1

Where s = speed of the space shuttle, d = distance traveled by the shuttle in an hour, t = time taken to travel the distance

make d the subject of the equation,

d = s×t.................... Equation 2

Given: s = 2.6×10000 feet per seconds, t = 1 hour =  3.6×1000 seconds.

Substitute these values into equation 2

d = (2.6×10000)/(3.6×1000)

d = 26000/3600

d = 7.22 feet.

Hence the shuttle travels 7.22 feet in an hour

Which sequence could be described by the explicit definition: t_n=2^n+1t n = 2 n + 1
yuradex [85]

Answer:

2. 27

3. Option C. 3, 5, 9, 17, 33, ...

Step-by-step explanation:

2. The sequence is defined by the explicit function t_{n} = 2^{n}  - n

Therefore, the 5th term i.e. t_{5} of the sequence.

t_{5} = 2^{5}  - 5 = 32 - 5 = 27 (Answer)

3. The explicit definition is t_{n} = 2^{n}  + 1

Hence, t_{1} = 2^{1}  + 1 = 3

t_{2} = 2^{2}  + 1 = 5

t_{3} = 2^{3}  + 1 = 9

t_{4} = 2^{4}  + 1 = 17

Therefore, the option C is the right sequence. (Answer)

Fred is 4 times as old as Nathan and is also 27 years older than Nathan. Let f be Fred's age and let n be Nathan's age.
bazaltina [42]

Answer:

The system of equations is

 and

Fred's age is 36 years old and Nathan's age is 9 years old

Step-by-step explanation:

Let

f -----> Fred's age

n ----> Nathan's age

we know that

-----> equation A

----> equation B

equate the equations and solve for n

Find the value of f

therefore

Fred's age is 36 years old and Nathan's age is 9 years old
