The correct answer is “Felt too guilty to continue with their plans”.

The term ethnic cleansing is a euphemism, it was actually used positively by the Serbians to justify their genocidal murder of Bosniaks (Bosnian Muslims in Bosnia-Herzegovina). They contended that their aim was not the extermination of Bosniaks but their forceful displacement from lands the Serbs considered were historically Serbian in order to ensure that their population was ethnically homogeneous. Of course, it is widely known that Serbians (and Croats and Bosniaks) were actually physically eliminating other ethnic groups, that is to say, murdering them. Logically, they did not want to be likened to the Nazis due to genocide and they did not want their population to openly realize they were engaging in genocidal acts. Had they used the word “murder” they would have lost the semblance of moral “legitimacy” that they were trying to perpetuate. So like the Nazis before them, they rationalized their actions and hid their true meaning by using double-speak with regards to their actions.

Mashutka [201]

Answer:

The Iroquois or Haudenosaunee ("People of the Longhouse") are a historical indigenous confederacy in northeast North America. They were known during the colonial years to the French as the Iroquois League, later as the Iroquois Confederacy and to the English as the Five Nations, comprising the Mohawk, Onondaga, Oneida, Cayuga, and Seneca. After 1722, they accepted the Tuscarora people from the southeast into their confederacy, as they were also Iroquoian-speaking, consequently became known as the Six Nations.
