1. According to The County Election, who participated in elections? Who was excluded?
Sonbull [250]

In 1852 George Caleb Bingham, also known as ‘the Missouri artist’, painted The County Election, the first painting which pictures the voting process in Missouri. In The County Election, Bingham presents a variety of people of different ages and social stratum walking up the stairs to vote and, thus, he suggests the inclusiveness of a democratic society. In this painting, he suggests that all men appear as equals, no one vote worth more than another. However, African Americans as well as women are not included in this voting process. Neither of them would enjoy the right to vote until some years later.

grandymaker [24]

In Edict XII of Emperor Asoka we can see that Asoka values every faith and encourages each individual to respect all religions as it acts as a token of respect for his own faith.

Explanation:

Respecting all religions equally would lead to a harmonized society in the world where individual would not be fighting against each other in the name of faith while only trying to establish their own supremacy. This indeed supports the idea that Asoka was sincere about promoting the welfare of the whole world.

why did people immigrate to the united states in the nineteenth century? fertile land, jobs, and the chance for a better life fe
Sever21 [200]

Since chances in Europe were becoming increasingly scarce, one of the primary motivations for immigration to the United States in the nineteenth century was Fertile land, jobs, and the potential for a better life."

People from many different countries made the decision to leave their homeland and immigrate to the United States in the late 1800s. Many people fled crop failure, land and job shortages, rising taxes, starvation, and other problems because they believed the United States to be a country of economic opportunity.

Between 1870 and 1900, almost 12 million immigrants entered the country, and many of them came in search of personal independence or protection from political and religious persecution. The majority of these individuals came from Germany, Ireland, and England in the 1870s and 1880s, which were the main countries from whom immigrants came prior to the American Civil War.

Even yet, between the beginning of the California gold rush in 1849 and 1882, when their immigration was prohibited by federal law, a sizable number of Chinese people travelled to the United States.
