Answer:

The resultant expression is 2x^{2}+5x^{2}-x-6.

Step-by-step explanation:

The distributive property of multiplication is:

a\times (b+c)=(a\times b)+(a\times c)

The two polynomials provided are:

(2x+3)\\(x^{2}+x-2)

Determine the final expression by multiplying the two polynomials as follows:

(2x+3)\times (x^{2}+x-2)=[2x\times(x^{2}+x-2)]+[3\times(x^{2}+x-2)]

=[(2x\times x^{2})+(2x\times x)-(2x\times 2)]+[(3\times x^{2})+(3\times x)-(3\times 2)]\\\\=[2x^{3}+2x^{2}-4x]+[3x^{2}+3x-6]\\\\=2x^{3}+2x^{2}+3x^{2}-4x+3x-6\\\\=2x^{3}+5x^{2}-x-6

Thus, the resultant expression is 2x^{2}+5x^{2}-x-6.

A forest ranger is in a forest 2 miles from a straight road. A car is located c miles down the road. The forest ranger can walk
Tcecarenko [31]

Answer:

  • T(x) = (√(4+x^2))/2 +(c -x)/4
  • (a) x = 1.155 miles
  • (b) x = 1/2 mile

Step-by-step explanation:

The straight line distance from the starting point to the point x on the road is given by the Pythagorean theorem:

  d1 = √(2²+x²)

The time required to walk that distance in the woods (at 2 miles per hour) is ...

  time = distance / speed

  t1 = √(4+x²)/2

The remaining distance along the road to the car is ...

  d2 = c - x . . . . . for c > x

and the corresponding time at 4 mph is ...

  t2 = (c -x)/4

Then the total time is ...

  T(x) = t1 +t2

  T(x) = √(4+x²)/2 +(c -x)/4

__

(a) The value of x that minimizes total time is the one that makes the derivative zero.

  T'(x) = x/(2√(4+x²)) -1/4

  0 = (2x -√(4+x²))/(4√(4+x²))

  √(4+x²) = 2x . . . . . fraction is zero when numerator is zero; add radical

  4 +x² = 4x² . . . . . . square both sides

  4/3 = x² . . . . . . . . . subtract x², divide by 3

  x = (2/3)√3 ≈ 1.1547

If c = 9 miles, x = 1.1547 miles.

__

(b) For c < (2/3)√3, the shortest travel time will be along the straight-line path to the car.

If c = 1/2 mile, x = 1/2 mile.

How many radians is 252°?<br> Give the exact answer in simplest form
Leokris [45]

Radian is a more advanced degrees measurement that is easier to use in trigonometry physics etc.

A full circle 360 degrees is 2pi radian.

We just need to find the ratio of 252 degrees to 360 degrees and multiply that by 2pi.

252/360*2pi(rad)

=126/180*2pi(rad)

=63/90*2pi(rad)

=21/30*2pi(rad)

=7/10*2pi(rad)

=7/5*pi (Radian)

Hope it helps and sorry for my bad grammar.

Gnom [1K]

So we start of with 64 pounds. Then, we subtract 1/4 of 64 (aka 64/4) because she keeps it for her family. Then, we subtract 1/8 of 64/4 (aka 64/4 then /8) because she gives 1/8 of the <em>remainder</em> to her club. Then, we take that number and divide it among 8 friends. So, let's put this into math.

64/4 = 16 pounds she gives to her family

64-16 = 48 pounds left

48/8 = 6 pounds she gives to her club

48 - 6 = 42 pounds left

42/8 = 5.25 pounds each of her friends get. That translates into 84 ounces
