Actually, you're looking for the equation of that vertical line thru x = 3. That equation is just x = 3. A point does not have an equation, though an equation may be satisfied by a given point.

Question 9: Please help, what would be the length of the image of the segment GH?
shepuryov [24]

Answer:

 • The length of the image of the segment GH would be 5 units.

Explanation:

You can use the center of dilation as your origin of coordintes.

Thus, the point H would have coordinates (0,0) and the point G (-1,0).

A dilation multiplies the coordinates by the scale factor. Hence:

 • H = (0,0) → H' = 5 × (0,0) = (0,0)
 • G = (-1,0) → G] = 5 × (-1, 0) = (-5, 0)

Thus, the length of the image of segment GH would be the distance from 0 to -5 in a number line, which is 5.
