F(x)=x^2 is vertically stretched by a factor of 2 and translated by 3 units left to create g(x). What does g(x)= ?

g(x)=-2(x+3)^2

The -2 in front is the vertical stretch.

Also, because it is going 3 units to the left, you have to put the 3 on the inside and because it is left you do the opposite and it is +3.

What is the solution to the equation 5x = 40?
Dima020 [189]
To find X, we can divide 5 into 40.
40 divided by 5 is 8.
Now we can do 5 x 8. That is 40.

X=40

OR we can do it another way.
40 divided by 5 is 8.
Cross out 5 divided by 5.

Now we have 8. Still.
X is 8

How to answer this on descending powers of x please help pretty please
zheka24 [161]

Answer:  25x² - 64

<u>Step-by-step explanation:</u>

  (5x + 8)(5x - 8)

=        5x(5x - 8)   +    8(5x - 8)

=      25x² - 40x    +    40x - 64

=      25x²         + 0x           - 64

=              \large\boxed{25x^2-64}

NOTE: descending powers means the biggest exponent goes first, then the next biggest exponent, etc.

For example: x⁴ then x³ then x² then x then the number (which is actually x⁰)

The radius of a semicircle is 3 feet. What is the semicircle's area?<br>Use 3.14 for Pi
valentinak56 [21]

Answer:

14.13 ft²

Step-by-step explanation:

The area of a semicircle is

=  \frac{\pi \:  {r}^{2} }{2}

We were given the radius of the semicircle to be: r=3 feet.

We were also asked to use π as 3.14.

We substitute into the formula to get:

=  \frac{3.14 \times  {3}^{2} }{2}

This is the same as:

=  \frac{3.14 \times  9}{2}

Or

= 3.14 \times  4.5

= 14 .13 {ft}^{2}

The area of the semicircle is 14.13 ft²
