In this 1958 case, the Supreme Court asserted its supremacy over states courts by ordering the state of Arkansas not to delay the disegregation of public schools that was previously ordered under Brown v. Board of Education.

6. Brown v. Board - desegregation of public schools

This 1954 case established that segregation of public schools is unconstitutional, because it is a violation of the fourteenth amendment, even if the segregated schools are equally equipped,
