Explain why an individual that is heterozygous for this inversion would be partially sterile
Ipatiy [6.2K]
Heterozygotes for inversion have a serious problem chromosome pairing at meiosis and recombination within the characteristic loop leads to chromosome duplication, deficiencies and in some cases two centro meters after recombination in meiosis. The abnormalities are usually not recovered in next generation because gametes or zygotes are receiving them are in-viable.

Is hypertonic active or passive transport
Len [333]

I'm a little confused by this question. Hypertonic just means that something has more of something than another thing. For example, if you place a cell in a solution, and 2% of the cell is made out of something while the solution is made out of 40% of the same thing, the solution would be hypertonic to the cell. Sorry if that explanation doesn't make sense, I tried my best lol.

Although I'd assume the answer is passive transport as anything that is hypertonic to something else will diffuse down its gradient in an attempt to reach a balance.

Iven the equation representing a nuclear reaction in which x represents a nuclide: which nuclide is represented by x?
kaheart [24]

The nuclide represented as X is thorium and this is an alpha decay where an alpha particle is removed off.

What is nuclide?

A kind of atom or nucleus which is represented by a specific number of protons and neutrons.

The equation given represents an alpha decay. In an alpha decay, an alpha particle is removed off.

The atomic number of the parent nuclide is more than the daughter nuclide by two units and the mass number of the parent is more than that of the daughter nuclide by four units.

Thus, the x is thorium.
