Guillain-Barré syndrome is a very rare disorder where the autoimmune system in the body begins to attack the healthy cells within the PNS or  peripheral nervous system.  Dr. McKhann observed in his studies that children  were not able to move but they did have sensory function. Which original diagnosis believed that the disorder eventually caused full paralysis including loss of sensory function.
