Some inquisitive students found two slugs and wanted to take them to science class. The only container they could find was a use

d potato chip bag. The students stored the slugs in the bag to take to school the next day, When the students opened the bag at school, they found that the slugs had melted and turned to slime. Why did this happen?

Explanation:

The body of a slug has lot of water inside it. Also its outer skin is highly permeable. When the body of slug comes in contact of salt, the body of slug starts secreting mucus in order to remove the salt. But when this salt is either is excess quantity or regularly applied as in the case of potato chips packets, then higher amount of water is excreted out of the body of slug as result of osmosis.

Excess loss of water causes dehydration and due to which the slug dies and convert into slime.
