An easy way to describe the difference between conservatives and liberals is by saying that Conservatives want to preserve the good things that have made our country great and Liberals want to free the nation from the bad things that do it harm.
Conservatives want "things the way they were". They want to preserve traditions as well as institutions such as the property rights, religion, etc.
Liberals, on the other hand, are all for change and individual freedoms. It is based on liberty and equality, and they support democracy, civil rights, gender equality, race equality, freedom of press, etc.
