They later dropped the heart, which lead customers to move to a different company. After realizing their mistake, they needed something new to attract their customers, and the emojis were born. The man who invented emojis is named Shigetaka Kurita. He was part of the team working on”i-mode”, a project that was just beginning to take shape. It would be the world’s first widespread mobile internet platform, combining features like weather forecasts, entertainment reservations, news, and email. At first, it was very difficult to create an emoji because the pagers could only fit 48 letters. However, just one month after Shigetaka Kurita got approval on emojis, he came up with the world's first 180 emojis. Emojis have become so popular that they have spread not only to text messages, but also to other networks such as Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram. Emojis are often wrongly associated with Emoticons, even though they are different.
