Research on the neural causes of Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD) indicate that individuals with OCD have overly active orbitofrontal cortex and anterior cingulate gyrus activity and communication with the basal ganglia region of the brain. People suffering from OCD have hyperactivity in certain parts of their brain, resulting in obsessions and compulsive behavior.
