Make a summary about the poem Portrait by a Neighbor
9966 [12]

Explanation:

The poem <u>"Portrait by a Neighbor"</u> was written by Edna St. Vincent Millay. The poem was published in <em> A Few Figs From Thistles: Poems and Four Sonnets</em> in 1922.

The poem is about a woman who is observed by a neighbor. This neighbor is telling us about a usual day of the woman who lives nearby. He/she describes how the woman wakes up early before the sunrise to sweep and wash all the dishes, which is to do all the housework; how she takes care of her garden and her lawn looks beautiful and perfect. From the poem, we can understand that a woman is hardworking and she is beautiful in her daily life routines.

I hope it helped you :)

Complete the sentences based on your reading of this excerpt from "A Modest Proposal" by Jonathan Swift:
Brums [2.3K]
The principle breeders refers to poor Catholics. They are principal breeders because they don't do much other than breed and have a lot of new children who are in turn also catholic. These people thus support the catholic leaders who do with the country as they wish.

The good protestants are the people who left the country and left it too poor and uneducated. This is a bit satirical because he doesn't really believe that they are good people because they abandoned instead of making the country a better place.
