The nurse is caring for a child with epiglottitis. The three major symptoms are drooling, fever, swallowing. Nursing interventions will be

  • Clear airway
  • Make him/her Sit in a comfortable position
  • Try not to leave the child alone

Further Explanation:

The epiglottis is a kind cartilage’s flap at the bottom of the tongue at the backside of the throat. While swallowing, epiglottis stops food from passing inside the windpipe or the trachea. When epiglottis becomes inflamed and swollen this is condition is referred as epiglottitis. This condition makes difficulty in-breath and spread very rapidly. The major reason behind the development of the epiglottitis condition in children is due to bacterial infection which can be easily spread by the upper respiratory tract. Main symptoms of epiglottitis are:

  • Muffled voice
  • Fever
  • Trouble swallowing
  • Drooling
  • Blue skin coloring

Nursing interventions would be:

  • Clear airway by using a tongue depressor to prevent blocking of the airway by the production large amount of saliva.
  • Sit the child in a relaxed position; if possible sit in the upright position.
  • During restless or agitated conditions don’t leave the child alone.

These are the 3 findings during the assessment of a child with epiglottitis: 1) child is drooling 2) child is agitated 3) child is not coughing/no coughing observed.
Nursing interventions would be: 1) Clear airway - use tongue depressor to avoid blocking of the airway due to excessive saliva production 2) Do not leave the child alone especially when he/she is agitated or restless 3) Let the child sit in a comfortable position, preferably in an upright position.

tia_tia [17]

Answer:

the Devonian ended with a series of glaciations and extinction events, the early Mississippian saw the Earth in a greenhouse climate state with warm temperatures over much of the globe. Gondwana continued its northward drift and collision with Euramerica, building the Appalachian Mountains. The Mississippian culture was a Native American civilization that flourished in what is now the Midwestern, Eastern, and Southeastern United States from approximately 800 CE to 1600 CE, varying regionally. It was known for building large, earthen platform mounds, and often other shaped mounds as well. The Mississippian is so named because rocks with this age are exposed in the Mississippi Valley. The Mississippian was a period of marine transgression in the Northern Hemisphere: the sea level was so high that only the Fennoscandian Shield and the Laurentian Shield were dry land.

mars1129 [50]

Answer:

D

Explanation:

1. As given, the  overall genome contain 50% G+C.

And the concept is that G is always pairs with C.

and A is always pairs with T.

So, in a dsDNA,  A+G= T+C

2. As there that, there is a cluster of genes comprising about 20,000 bp that is 64% G + C so this so that the 20,000 bp segment is a recent acquisition via horizontal gene transfer.
