Two presidents have been impeached by the House of Representatives. The first one was Andrew Johnson in 1868 for dismissing Edwin M. Stanton as Secretary of War and the second one was Bill Clinton in 1998 for lying in regards to sexual relations with a White House intern; both were later acquitted in trial by the Senate because the two thirds of the votes to convict them were not  reached.
