They are taking action and acknowledging the wrong doing of the past. Although I would not say it is changing because if it was the indigenous people would have their land back and they don’t. They still face a lot of racial discrimination and it took years for the government to apologize for such a brutal incident, the residential schools. The whole main point of them was to wipe out all of the history of the indigenous people.
These days, people are more empowered than before because they know their rights.But when they express their discontent through rebellion, it is a harsh and drastic solution to be noticed. Instead, people can go for a rally or go to the streets so that their voices can be heard without being violent.
