These groups attempted to reform the government to get rid of corruption and to obtain regulation on businesses. They also attempted to reform immigrants and the idea of American identity to bring the values of Protestant founders. Suffragettes fought to gain rights for women, in particular the right to vote. This movement was behind the passage of four amendments and many new laws.
