<em>Ancient people's believed in Gods and deities for causes to nature and the unexplained. Once the fourth century BC rolled around, people began to see "astronomical phenomena" as "natural compound products of simple operations repeated in perpetuity" rather than the actions of Gods. (Morphet, p.6) Greeks did not revere celestial bodies very strongly in their religion, despite having deities for the Sun and Moon. (North, p.78) Different peoples beliefs varied greatly in ancient times. Different countries progressed in thought at different speeds. During the Renaissance, many began to "toss aside medieval preoccupations with supernatural forces and turned to secular concerns" like fame. (Yamasaki, p.50) With the "Age of Discovery," people began to think for themselves and ponder truths through philosophy, science, astronomy, astrology, etc.</em>

Based on this passage of The Odyssey, one can conclude that the ancient Greeks greatly valued _______A. DemocracyB. BraveryC. Kn
pav-90 [236]
B - Bravery

Although you didn't provide the passage, there are various reasons as to why bravery is the answer.

A is incorrect as the Odyssey never focused on democracy as shown through kings of many lands since Odysseus himself was the king of Ithaca with his son being the rightful heir of the throne.

C, knowledge, is incorrect as characters in the Odyssey never valued knowledge. The Odyssey was filled with battles and overcoming hardships, not gaining knowledge and wisdom, thus ruling out C as the possible answer.

D, relaxation, is an answer you can immediately rule out. Throughout the Odyssey, the stories and the movies, you can see that all characters are constantly bustling and working for whatever they hope to accomplish. Although they may value relaxation, they seem to value work more so.

Hope this helps!

_______ she was tired, she read until midnight.
tensa zangetsu [6.8K]

Answer:

<em><u>Although</u></em> she was tired, she read until midnight.

Explanation:

The word "although" is a subordinating conjunction that presents a dependent clause. It is used to present a statement that contrasts the main idea of the sentence, introducing the dependent clause to complete the information of the independent clause.

So, the given sentence<em> "_______ she was tired, she read until midnight"</em> presents two contrasting yet connected sentences. While <em>"____ she was tired"</em> presents the contrast in the final clause<em> "she read until midnight"</em>, using "although" will complete the whole sentence.

Thus, the final sentence will be "<u>Although</u> she was tired, she read until midnight."
