People an feel different emotions when looking at paintings and works of art. These feelings can be used by that persons subconscious to inspire them to do something. e.g. a person may look at a sculpture of a child begging in the street which may inspire them to spend some of their life looking after the homeless or they may see a painting of a cute puppy which may inspire them to buy a dog! The lyric "oh girl" is probably the most cliche line ever... unless you're Dave Matthews. Instead of "You know I'd never mean to hurt you" you could have simply stated "you know that I'd never hurt you."
