1. You must always provide support for your claims in essays. Properly cited visual aids and statistics can be used as support in some essays, but should not be the only source of facts.

2. It is often recommended to restate your thesis in the last paragraph.

3. The conclusion is used to sum up the topics covered in the paper, and provides the final impressions for the reader.

4. The hook of a paragraph, much like that of a song, is meant to grab the reader's attention.

5. The body of the essay is the middle section wherein the writer makes their primary claims and provides supporting evidence for each of them.

6./7. The supporting evidence shows that Mars has become very cold.

8. There is no bolded section visible. Remember that the topic sentence is what the essay is about. The hook is a line used to draw readers in and make them interested in the topic. The supporting evidence is used to support the claims made in the topic sentence. The conclusion is an ending statement that restates the topic or thesis in some way.

"On Starting school later" - by Lea marchl
sergij07 [2.7K]

1. The thesis of Lea Marchl's essay, "On Starting School Later," is that <em>"if a student enjoys an extra hour of sleep so that schools resume by 8.30 am instead of 7.30 am, it will improve the health of teenagers."</em>

A thesis is a central idea or an author's claim.  As it pervades the passage or essay, it gives relevant examples and convincing evidence to make it effective. A thesis requires facts and data.

2. Lea Marchl effectively cites credible sources to establish her ethos and claim on the need to start school later than the present time. She <em>presents the benefits of both sides of the argument,</em> allowing the reader a free choice of the position to adopt.

3. The <em>effective use of </em><em>ethos</em> helps the audience to appreciate her argument as sensible.

Thus, a thesis clarifies the essay writer's position while ethos profusely makes the intended audience <em>understand the narrator's point of view.</em>
