The expansion of imperialists was assisted by missionaries that were sent ahead of colonizers to spread Christianity, the religion of the Empire. In doing so, they also spread Western ideals and the English language. The path made by religious scouts made imperialism, easier.

This was mostly seen in America, where the native people eventually became servants to their land, in the notion they were also being converted into a faith which will provide them salvation.

The first experiences the Europeans had with the colonies in Africa had turned into bloody conflicts and in the conquest for the Americas, the use of religion was most present reflecting until the present into many attitudes that remain. The perception of a higher European culture is a result of contrast it with the original and unique cultures like Mayas and Aztecs that are not seen equally.
