Answer:  They used REALPOLITIK methods.

Explanation/context:

  • Count Camillo di Cavour was prime minister of the Kingdom of Sardinia, serving under King Victor Emmanuel II.  This was a time in history (in the 19th century) when prime ministers were starting to exercise more control of policy than the kings themselves.  It was also a time of something that came to be known a "<em>Realpolitik</em>" (a German term), or "realistic politics."  Cavour was a political realist who chose paths of action that would benefit his overall aims, whether or not they fit some specific ideology or master plan.  I suppose "compromise" would be another way of saying that, but I'd prefer to say he practiced political realism.
  • Otto von Bismarck was Minster President and Minister of Foreign Affairs for the Kingdom of Prussia.  He used <em>Realpolitik</em> (reality politics) methods to increase Prussian power and align other German states together with Prussia into the German Empire.  In his leadership of Prussia, Bismarck helped create wars with neighboring countries to increase national pride among the German people.   The main wars that Bismarck provoked in increasing national pride and unity among the German people were the Austro-Prussian War (1866) and the  Franco-Prussian War (1870-71).  Following the Francp-Prussian War, the German Empire was established, and Wilhelm I appointed Bismarck to the position of Chancellor.

Bismarck's ultimate goal was to unite the German states into a strong German Empire with Prussia as its core. On September 30, 1862 Bismarck made his famous blood and iron speech, which implied that if Germany was to unify it would be with the use of military force. He hated liberalism, democracy and socialism.

John Locke's concept of natural rights and the social contract emphasizes which pair of concepts and definitions?
Ludmilka [50]

Answer:

Popular sovereignty is equal to political equality among citizens, is the right answer.

Explanation:

John Locke is the most prominent political thinkers of modern times. He published the book name "Two Treatises of Government"  in the year 1690. In this book, he supported a claimed that men are naturally born free and equal and gave more importance to natural rights. In the social contract theory, developed during the Age of Enlightenment, the idea of popular sovereignty was put forward by John Locke, Thomas Hobbes and  Jean-Jacques Rousseau. In this theory of popular sovereignty, the legitimacy of the law is based on the acquiescence of the governed. According to the thinkers, when people choose to live in a society they give up some of their natural freedoms in return of the protection from threats that come from the freedom of others.

Therefore, it may be said that Locke emphasized on the pair of popular sovereignty and political equality.
