Mathematics and architecture are related, since, as with other arts, architects use mathematics for several reasons. Apart from the mathematics needed when engineering buildings, architects use geometry: to define the spatial form of a building; from the Pythagoreans of the sixth century BC onwards, to create forms considered harmonious, and thus to lay out buildings and their surroundings according to mathematical, aesthetic and sometimes religious principles; to decorate buildings with mathematical objects such as tessellations; and to meet environmental goals, such as to minimise wind speeds around the bases of tall buildings.

4vir4ik [10]
Shang Cities
During the Shang Dynasty, there were several large settlements, including Zhengzhou and Anyang, though these are not believed to be as densely urban as Mesopotamian settlements during the same time. Anyang became the capitol around 1300 B.C. under King Pan Geng and at the time was called Yin.

How is a waterfall formed?
matrenka [14]
Often, waterfalls form as streams flow from soft rock to hard rock. This happens both laterally (as a stream flows across the earth) and vertically (as the stream drops in a waterfall). In both cases, the soft rock erodes, leaving a hard ledge over which the stream falls

You have a circle with a diameter of 24 divided into 16 sections what is the size of each section
ziro4ka [17]
The circle with diameter of 24 means that 2\pir = 24.

Solving for r, we get \pir=24.

Dividing both sides by \pi, we get r=24/\pi.

The area of the full circle is \pi times 24 squared over \pi ^{2}. The \pi being multiplied cancels out, meaning that 24 squared over \pi is the area of the full circle. 24 squared is 576, and dividing by 16 we get \frac{36}{\pi} as the answer.
