Correct answer:  He promoted the policy of brinkmanship.

<u>Explanation</u>:

John Foster Dulles was Secretary of State under President Eisenhower.  He held the office from 1953 to 1959.  He wanted a change from what had been the "containment policy" which the US had followed during the Truman Administration, as recommended then by American diplomat George F. Kennan.   Dulles felt the containment approach put the United States in a weak position, because it only was reactive, trying to contain  communist aggression when it occurred.

Dulles sought to push America's policy in a more active direction; some have labeled his approach "brinksmanship."  In an article in LIFE magazine in 1956, Dulles said, "The ability to get to the verge without getting into the war is the necessary art."  He wasn't afraid to threaten massive retaliation against communist enemy countries as a way of intimidating them.

Why did George f Kennedy believe that containment was best response to soviet expansion
Ugo [173]

Hello There!

Your answer would be "<u>because he believed that the Soviet Union wouldn't risk war by expanding communism</u>"

Your key word in the question would be containment. Containment means to keep something that is harmful under control. George made this a policy towards the Soviet Union. The reason why he believed that containment was the best response to the expansion is because the Soviets were trying to expand their communism through out Europe, but the United States didn't want to let that happen, so they controlled the expansion of the Soviet union that is spreading throughout Europe, so other countries do not get influenced by communism. This policy was known for being used in the Cold War. Communism was dangerous during their time. If an economy lacks the amount of strength to be a strong economy, then they would easily take communism into their economy, since it is the only option for them to keep their economy functioning.

George F. Kennan's goal was to make sure that the economies in Europe were strong enough to stand up for themselves, without having other countries help them stay strong. Communism would destroy economies and make them weaker, to the point where they would need to depend on another country to help them (Soviet Union).

Since the Soviets did not want to get into war with the United States, they stopped expanding their communism through out Europe. If they did not stop expanding their communism through out Europe, then they would've went to a brutal war with the U.S.

Which is a true statement about the federalist?
Bas_tet [7]

<em>Answer:</em>

<em>Personally I'd choose option "D" They believed in a system of checks and balances</em>

<em>Explanation:</em>

<em>The Federalists wanted a strong, and a  central government, so the first option would be incorrect. Also, they didn't fear the presidency would become too powerful, making the third option incorrect. The last option is incorrect because the Federalists supported the ratification of Constitution as they noticed the weaknesses of the Articles.</em>

Sholpan [36]
Germany was the aggressor nation.  The event described was the <u>siege of Leningrad</u>, part of Germany's World War II aggression against the Soviet Union.  The siege lasted from September 1941 to January 1944, a total of 872 days.  More than 1,000,000 Soviet civilians died during the siege.  (German forces had finally weakened by then.)

What overall reason for the colonies to separate from Britain does Jefferson outline in the second paragraph
tensa zangetsu [6.8K]
<span>The reason outlined by Jefferson in the second paragraph behind the separation of colonies from Britain was the violation of certain rights like the pursuit of happiness, right to life and liberty. These rights were never given importance by the British Empire and this led to the revolt by the colonists. As per Jefferson the government failed to protect these rights for the people and hence the colonists had the full right to overthrow the tyrannically British government and create a government of their own.  </span>
