"twelve decreased by twice a number"   --->   12 - 2x

"8 times the sum of number and 4"   --->   8(x + 4)

12 - 2x  =  8(x + 4)

12 - 2x  =  8x + 32                    (distributive property)

12        =  10x + 32                   (add 2x to both sides)

-20       =  10x                           (subtract 32 from both sides)

x  =  -2                                      (divide both sides by 10)

That's answer.

<h3>Answer:  9 units</h3>

========================================================

Explanation:

For now, focus on triangle ABD. This is a right triangle due to BD being an altitude.

Use the pythagorean theorem to find that...

(AD)^2 + (BD)^2 = (AB)^2

(1)^2 + (BD)^2 = (3)^2

1 + (BD)^2 = 9

(BD)^2 = 9-1

(BD)^2 = 8

Normally we would isolate BD itself, but I'll stop short and use that last line instead.

------------------

The triangles ABD and BCD are similar triangles (we can prove this using the AA similarity theorem).

Since we have similar triangles, we can form the proportion shown below

AD/BD = BD/CD

This cross multiplies to

AD*CD = (BD)^2

We know that AD = 1 and (BD)^2 = 8, so,

AD*CD = (BD)^2

1*CD = 8

CD = 8

This then means,

x = CD+DA

x = 8+1

x = 9

AC is 9 units long.

Sarah bought a shirt for $24.00, before tax. Tax was 6% what was the tax Sarah paid
bezimeni [28]

Write 6% as a decimal : 6% = 0.06

Multiply the price of the shirts by 0.06:

Tax = 24.00 x 0.06 = $1.44

Answer and Step-by-step explanation:

Greetings!

Let's~answer~your~question!

→ By~quotient~rule,

y'=\frac{\frac{1}{x}*x~-~In~x*1 }{x^2} =\frac{1-In~x}{x^2}

→ This~ problem ~can ~also ~be ~solved ~by~ the ~Product~ Rule:

y'=f'(x)~g(x)+f(x)~g(x)

→ The~ original~ function ~can~ also~be~ rewritten~ using ~negative~ exponents:

f(x)=\frac{In(x)}{x}=In(x)*x^-^1

f'(x)=\frac{1}{x} *x^-^1+ln(x)*-1x^-^2

f'(x)=\frac{1}{x}*\frac{1}{x}+In(x)*-\frac{1}{x^2}

f'(x)=\frac{1}{x^2}-\frac{In(x)}{x^2}

f'(x)=\frac{1-In(x)}{x^2}
