The table below shows the temperature (in °F) t hours after midnight in Phoenix on March 15. The table shows values of this func

tion recorded every two hours.
Estimate the value of T′(8). Give units in your answer.
What is the meaning of T′(8)?

We need to estimate the value of T'(8) and then we need to give the meaning of this value. Since we have a table and not an expression of a function our goal is to find the Average Rate of Change between two points.

For a nonlinear graph whose slope changes at each point, the average rate of change between any two points (x_{1},f(x_{1}) \ and \ (x_{2},f(x_{2}) is the slope of the line through the two points. So:

ARC=\frac{f(x_{2})-f(x_{1})}{x_{2}-x_{1}} =\frac{Change \ in \ y}{Change \ in \ x}=m_{sec}

1. Estimated value of T′(8).

T'(8) means the derivative of the function T(t) when t = 8 hours. So, we can estimate this value using the average rate of change:

ARC=\frac{T(8)-T(6)}{8-6} =\frac{73-68}{8-6}=\frac{5}{2} \ degrees \ per \ hours

2. The meaning of T′(8)

This means the average temperature after midnight in Phoenix on March 15, from t = 6 to t = 8 hours, that is, for each hour the temperature rises 5/2 degrees on the Fahrenheit scale. The points have been plotted in the Figure bellow.

I assume T'(8) is referring to the rate of change in Temperature when t = 8.

To find this use the slope formula with T(8) and nearest point T(6).

T'(8) = \frac{T(8) - T(6)}{8-6} = \frac{73-68}{8-6} = \frac{5}{2}

The units will be degrees per hour

Which of the following statements are true of the hypotenuse of a right triangle?
OLEGan [10]
The hypotenuse is always the longest side, and it is always opposite the right angle.
"Leg" is not a mathematical term. If it is being used to refer to one of the sides forming a right angle, the hypotenuse is not a "leg".

An investor has purchased 1,000 shares of stock at a price of $10 per share. The stock pays no dividends, and historically has a
Pani-rosa [81]

Answer:

D

Step-by-step explanation:

Here, we want to select which of the options explains the scenario in the question.

Firstly, 1,000 shares were purchased at $10 per share.

Mathematically the total amount of shares bought will be 10 * 1000 = $10,000

Also, we have the growth rate as 12.5% = 12.5/100 = 0.125

Thus, representing the scenario with a function, we have;

A(t) = 10,000 e0.125t

Write an equation in slope-intercept form of the line shown. (8, 4) (4, 1)
UkoKoshka [18]

Step-by-step explanation:

m= 1-4/4-8 = -3/-4 = 3/4

y-1 = 3/4(x - 4)

y-1 = 3/4x -3

y = 3/4x -2

Which statement best describes the zeros of the function h(x) = (x – 6)(x2 + 8x + 16)? A. The function has two distinct real zer
NNADVOKAT [17]

Answer:

A

Step-by-step explanation:

Here, we want to choose the option that best suit the question.

Let’s consider the cases individually;

for (x-6) = 0

we have a root at x = 6 which is a real root

Secondly

x^2 + 8x + 16 = x^2 + 4x + 4x + 16 = 0

That would be;

x(x + 4) + 4(x + 4)

(x + 4)(x + 4) = 0

Thus x = - 4 twice

So the roots of the given equation would be;

6 , -4 , -4

Which is 3 real roots but only 2 real distinct roots
