The temperature starts at 85 degrees.
t = 85

After 1 minute, it loses 3.5 degrees.
t = 85 - 3.5

After 2 minutes, it loses another 3.5 degrees.
t = 85 - 3.5 * 2

After 3 minutes, it loses another 3.5 degrees.
t = 85 - 3.5 * 3

etc.

After 12 minutes, it loses another 3.5 times 12 degrees.
t = 85 - 3.5 * 12

Take Saturdays total of $620 and subtract Fridays total of $460 to get $160. Divide that by the difference of the number of pies sold on Friday and Saturday to get $8. Take the $8 and multiply by number of pies sold on Friday (20) to get $160. Take that number and subtract it from the total sold on Friday ($460) to get $300. Divide that by how many cakes were sold on Friday (30) and get $10.
So therefore:

Pies - $8 each
Cakes - $10 each

Maria and Jason are saving gas money for their trip to Boston. Maria has saved $20 more than double what Jason has. Combined Mar
valentina_108 [34]

Answer:

$60

Step-by-step explanation:

Jason saved gas money (x).  Maria saved $20 more than double what Jason has (20 + 2x).  Combined, they saved $200.  Solve for x for Jason's amount.

(x) + (20 + 2x) = 200

x + 20 + 2x = 200

3x + 20 = 200

3x + 20 = 200

3x + 20 - 20 = 200 - 20

3x = 180

3x/3 = 180/3

x = 60

Jason saved $60 for this trip.
