ICE Princess25 [194]

Answer:

The best way to describe Twain's tone in this excerpt from "Life on the Mississippi" is:

b. casual and nostalgic.

Explanation:

Mark Twain was filled with homecoming feelings that he longed endlessly to return to Hannibal, to his root, and to his boyhood friends to enjoy life on the Mississippi.  When he was a young boy growing up, he had watched steamboats traversing the river with envy and unsatisfied desire.  This desire propelled him to seek a seaman career to enable him work on the boats.  First published in 1883, "Life on the Mississippi" chronicled Mark Twain's experiences as a steamboat pilot on the Mississippi River.

Explain how the character changed from the beginning to the end of the book. (Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets) (bump)
Mandarinka [93]

Answer:

Well, it depends what you mean. Physically, he has definitely changed. He has matured, and by the last book, he is considered an adult. He is no longer the innocent boy who lives with his aunt and uncle, but a hero known all over the world. He has also learned some new powers, that he never used in the first few books. Being able to read Voldemort’s mind and emotions was a connection that was never seen in the wizarding world. As Harry grew up, plus Voldemort’s return to power, the connection opens up, and they can pretty much read each other's minds.
