Actually, there are quite a lot of island nations ( that is countries that lie entirely on islands) that have borders: Brunai, Haiti and Dominican Republic (the last two share the same Island, Hispanola), Papua New Guinea (who shares it's ilsand, New Guinea with Indonesia.
