1. We arrived at the concert early, and  <u>we were able to procure the best seats for ourselves.</u>

2. <u> He was a bit late in the start</u> but he won the relay race.

3. You cannot eat hot dogs, nor  <u>can you eat anything in this area</u>.

4. We tossed water balloons back and forth, and  <u>we also splashed water on each other.</u>

5. <u> We had done our chores in the morning</u> and in the evening we want to go to the movies.

6. The children were hungry, but <u>Mother did not allow them to have snacks before dinner.</u>

Explanation:

Compound sentences are those sentences that contain two independent clauses to make a meaningful complete sentence. Even if the sentence are broken into two, both the sentences can stand on its own.

Independent clauses are those clauses that need no addition to be deemed a complete sentence. They are capable of standing on their own.

So, with the addition of new sentences, the whole new compound sentence are as follows-
