There are 20 goldfish in a pond. Their population is increasing by 20% each year. The same pond has 100 minnows. The minnow popu

lation is increasing by 10 minnows each year. Make a graph to find the year that the two species of fish will have the same population. In what year will the fish populations be approximately the same?

Answer:

13.5 years.

Step-by-step explanation:

We know that exponential growth function is in form y=a\cdot(1+r)^x, where, a is initial value and r is growth rate in decimal form.

Population of goldfish after x years would be y=20\cdot(1+0.20)^x.

We know that a linear function is in form y=mx+b, where, b is initial value and m is slope.

Population of minnow after x years would be y=100+10x.

Graphing both equations, we will get our required graph as shown in the attachment.

Since both graphs intersect at x=13.5, therefore, in the 13.5 years both populations will approximate the same.

The graph is attached, showing the intersection point at 13.5 years and populations of 235.2 for each population.

We only consider the portion of the graph from x=0 on, since negative time is illogical.  Tracing the graph we get the intersection point.

I dont know how to divide a line segment.
melamori03 [73]

From point A, draw a line segment at an angle to the given line, and about the same length. The exact length is not important. Set the compasses on A, and set its width to a bit less than one fifth of the length of the new line. Step the compasses along the line, marking off 5 arcs. Label the last one C. With the compasses' width set to CB, draw an arc from A just below it. With the compasses' width set to AC, draw an arc from B crossing the one drawn in step 4. This intersection is point D. Draw a line from D to B. Using the same compasses' width as used to step along AC, step the compasses from D along DB making 4 new arcs across the line. Draw lines between the corresponding points along AC and DB. Done. The lines divide the given line segment AB in to 5 congruent parts.

Find the slope of the line that contains the following points. R(-3, 5), S(3, -2) 7/6 7/6 undefined
Musya8 [376]

Answer:

-\frac{7}{6}

Step-by-step explanation:

We can use the slope formula for the segment that joins any two points (x_1, y_1) and (x_2, y_2):

slope=\frac{y_2-y_1}{x_2-x_1}

which in our case gives:

slope=\frac{y_2-y_1}{x_2-x_1}  = \frac{-2-5}{3-(-3)}=\frac{-7}{6} =-\frac{7}{6}

3^-6 x (3^4 divided by 3^0)^2. simplfyed i need it quick im about to guess
11111nata11111 [884]

Answer:

Step-by-step explanation:

first the parenthesis

3^4/3^0=3^4

anything raised to the power of 0 is 1

(3^4)^2=3^8     you multiply the powers

3^-6 * 3^8= 3^(-6+8)=3^2

PLEASE HELP 20+ POINTS!! What is the cosine equation of the function shown?
noname [10]

Answer:   \bold{y=7\ \cos\bigg(x-\dfrac{\pi}{4}\bigg)-4}

<u>Step-by-step explanation:</u>

y = A cos (Bx - C) + D

  • A (amplitude) = max - D
  • B = Period/2π  --->   Period is the distance from max to next max
  • C = B · Phase Shift  ---> Phase shift is distance from y-axis to max
  • D (vertical shift) = (max + min)/2

D = (max + min)/2     =     (3 - 11)/3      =  -4

A = max - D               =     3 - (-4)         = 7

Period = 9π/4 - π/4   =    8π/4            = 2π

B = Period/2π           =    2π/2π          = 1

Phase Shift = π/4 - 0 =     π/4

C = B · Phase Shift    =  1 · π/4            = π/4

Equation:

           y = 7 cos (1·x - π/4) + (-4)
