Why would you want to have more mastery goals when it comes to learning a new subject, like psychology, instead of performance g

oals? Mastery goals always lead to higher grades than if one is only focusing on performing well on the exams. Mastery goals can help in improving rote memorization, thus leading to higher performance. Mastery goals will lead to deeper understanding, greater interest, and longer motivation to study the material. Mastery goals mean self-esteem remains constant, thus leading to higher performance.

Answer:

Mastery goal leads to deeper understanding, greater interest and longer motivation to study the material

Explanation:

Mastery goal is an in-depth form of acquisition of knowledge and skills whereby the person develops skills over time and also stretch themselves to become the best they can be at a single task.

Motivation from mastery goal is always from within hence it gives a longer motivation period to keep up with study. There is little or no competition as mastery goal just wants to attain the best of oneself and not compete with others, it's a continuous effort to be better at one's craft over time.
